The Story

Pavé-set panels and perfectly balanced rows of diamond accents elevate the otherwise minimalistic wirework encapsulating this one-of-a-kind Ethiopian opal. The process behind this design is one that pays homage to traditional techniques while embracing modern tech—innovations in 3D printing allow us to make parts that suit the exact measurements of any stone. In this piece, we used laser fusion to connect the pieces which reveals as much of the gem as possible using very little force to hold it in place. For a stone like this, that’s important. This one in particular is of an exceptional quality because of its spectacular play of color displayed when the light interacts with it. This beautiful opal has a subtle glow and a warm orange tone, like the light of sunset glinting off the surface of a lake.
