About Our Fabrique Collection
This was our first fully “Computer Aided” collection of fine jewelry. We had been working with CAD /CAM for some time, and decided that we would use the process as our inspiration to create a new collection with a completely new aesthetic.
Fabrique itself is a word that seemed perfect to name our collection. Fabrique is French meaning roughly: to make, or to create. It also sounds a lot like “fabric” which is also what we were conceptualizing in digital form. Did I mention it’s a French word? It’s just sexy to use French words whenever you can make it work!
Computer Aided Design often uses a concept known as “ Wire Frame” construction. This is a process that basically uses a linear (wire) mesh to define the shape of an object. You can conceptually wrap any shape in a wire mesh and create that shape in that manner. This became not only a technical process for us, but also an aesthetic approach that focused on the actual mesh as a design element. This became our fabric and that was very exciting, because it could be manipulated in unlimited ways.
If you look carefully at the pieces in this collection you will see that they are all wirework constructions of different patterns and shapes. This approach is the unifying theme of the collection. Everything started with this concept in mind and then went in any number of directions. Some pieces use pearls or gemstones, some do not. Some are bold and complex and some delicate and understated. All of the work is unique.
