Sapphire and Diamond Vintage Engagement Ring

This beautiful ring is a wonderful example of early 20th century Edwardian design. There are elements of early Art Deco as well. This is, in fact, a design that I discovered at a friend of mine’s jewelry shop many years ago. I was starting my career as an independent jewelry designer in San Francisco in the early 1990’s and was working with a friend to help me with some casting. His shop was in downtown San Francisco and had been there for generations. His great-grandfather, Mel Harris had started the shop in the early 1900’s and had left the original models for his designs there in the back room. When I found them with my friend I knew that we had discovered a fantastic time capsule of early 20th-century jewelry design. Not everything was as amazing as this ring pictured, but even a few originals were like finding buried treasure! There is a reason these designs have endured the decades and are so popular today: they are elegant and beautiful!
